Talmadge Transitional

San Diego, CA

This 1950s San Diego home was originally divided into a series of small, disconnected rooms typical of the era. The renovation reimagines the layout to better support a growing family, creating a bright, open-concept living space with improved circulation and clear sightlines to the backyard. Walls between the formal dining and family rooms were removed to make way for a large kitchen island and integrated bar — blending modern functionality with the home's original charm.

The primary suite was also redesigned to include a spa-inspired bathroom and walk-in closet. By optimizing a compact footprint, the design introduces light, neutral tones and full-height stone finishes to bring a sense of calm and spaciousness.

To further enhance indoor-outdoor living, the exterior was upgraded with a custom wood fence and gated entry, plus a new deck off the primary bedroom with built-in planters — adding both curb appeal and practical outdoor space for everyday enjoyment.
