OUR STORY
Formation Studio was established with the belief that the architecture should enhance the human experience. Our daily interactions with the spaces in which we live can affect our mood, efficiency, health, and happiness. The transformation of a space improves your quality of life while also reflecting your personal experiences and values. We aim to create timeless designs that balance beauty, function, and sustainability.
PROCESS
Finding a style and expression that fits your needs is a process. Formation Studio will guide you through the process to understand the goals of each project and give you the tools to visualize the space and be confident in your decisions.

Kelley Ross
Kelley Ross opened Formation Studio to connect with clients and to help them achieve their highest potential in their projects. Beautiful, well-balanced spaces must have cohesive architecture and interior design. She enjoys listening and learning about each client to help craft a space that reflects their lifestyle or brand. Each client is unique and a holistic and thoughtful approach to the design will ensure that they will receive a final product that is exciting and customized to their needs.
She has over 18 years of diverse experience in the architectural profession. After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, she has spent her career in the San Diego area working for local firms HDR, Mosher Drew, and The Miller Hull Partnership. Her projects range from small retail spaces to large medical and higher education facilities. She has even had the pleasure of working on several projects at the San Diego Zoo, including her children’s favorite, Africa Rocks!
At Miller Hull, Kelley grew with the San Diego office from 5 people to 20 people, serving as an Associate and mentor to younger Miller Hull staff. She was involved in the firm’s culture committee, developing initiatives to improve company culture, mentorship, and equity advocacy. She has been deeply involved in the local DBIA WPR San Diego Chapter, serving on the steering committee as the sponsorship chair. She has worked on several Design Build projects and believes that strong relationships with contractors and owners will elevate the project. Additionally, Kelley was a member of the firm’s interior design committee and helped to develop interior packages on high profile jobs such as Del Mar City Hall, Mesa Commons, UCSD Geisel Teaching + Learning Commons and the UA Student Success District.
