This project transformed a compact yard into a highly functional extension of the home—designed to maximize livable space and support both everyday life and long-term plans. With limited square footage indoors, the homeowners wanted a flexible outdoor environment that could evolve with their needs, including a future primary suite addition.

Formation Studio created a series of intentional zones: a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, generous dining area, built-in fire pit, and open lawn space for children to play. A custom aluminum trellis defines the central gathering area, while a flush, in-ground composite wood path connects each space with clean lines and a modern edge.

Layered plantings, natural textures, and integrated storage bring softness and practicality to the design. The result is a cohesive outdoor retreat that feels both elevated and easy—a seamless continuation of the home and a reflection of the family’s lifestyle.
